We’re just one crazy family that decided to break away from it all and take a chance on adventure.
Welcome to our website! We are a family of 4 (plus two 70lb Doodles that consider themselves lap dogs) that are currently living full time in our RV and traveling the country.
We are using this website to share our adventures and hopefully tips, tricks and a lesson or two that we’re learning along the way.
We’re happy you’ve found us!
In case you’re curious, a year ago, we never would have considered ourselves RVers. To the contrary, Brian and I are avid lightweight backpackers. Our ideal vacation is to strap everything we need to our backs and disappear into the backcountry of nowhere for a week. We’ve backpacked all over the country from the Olympics to the Canyonlands, Yosemite to the Wind River Range.
Like many people, we were living a very normal life and comfortable that COVID-19 disrupted spectacularly. We spent a month of our 2020 COVID-Summer-Lock-Down renovating a water-logged hybrid travel trailer in the driveway of our subdivision.
(P.S. Wouldn’t recommend that.)
(P.P.S. Neither would our HOA)
We learned a lot in that reno process. It’s actually pretty surreal to see how these RVs are constructed from the inside-out. Through our research, what this really did was expose us to this entire subculture of full-time RV families that we hadn’t even considered before. It made us realize that there wasn’t anything tying us to where we were anymore. It reminded us that there were places we wanted to go – beautiful mountains and deserts and parks that we wanted to share with our kids.
Having made the decision already to homeschool the kids in the fall due to the uncertainty that the pandemic was creating in the educational system, over the course of 2-3 weeks, we decided to sell the house, pack up our things, buy an RV and start traveling full time. There are amazing families that make this decision and then take a year or so to move in. And then there’s us.
As of now, we have no set agenda and no real plan other than to experience as many beautiful places as we can and make amazing memories along the way. It’s an epic adventure and we’re happy you’ve come to follow along.
