Talk about an unexpected delight in Southern Arizona. We instinctually look for Harvest Hosts now anytime we’re “passing through” an area. I had no idea that the area south of Wilcox, Arizona was so full of wonderful little vineyards and wineries. To be honest, we landed on Pillsbury simply because their description stated that they allowed more than 1 night stays (Take Note, Harvest Hosts!). We were pleasantly surprised to discover that their wines are FABULOUS. They distribute all over Arizona and into California now, so if you have a chance to enjoy them, you won’t be disappointed.
Pillsbury has a cute little tasting room that is perched on the edge of their vineyard. Brian and I sampled a huge variety of wines and wound up purchasing quite a few bottles. The space they have for their Harvest Hosts Members is huge – we had no issue getting in and setting up shop. The kids loved the area. They ran and played and kicked pine cones and in general, just had a blast.
There was a even a fire ring all set up where we were allowed to have a bonfire one night. The star gazing was on point and when you add both Chiricahua National Monument and Fort Bowie as an easy drive, this place was a no-brainer. We had the added benefit of the Tasting Room Manager, Terri, letting us know that there was a Great Horned Owl that liked to hang out in the trees right next to our rig. The kids were determined to find it. (Spoiler Alert: They Did.) (Double Spoiler Alert: It was epic)
We loved this winery. The location was awesome (we’d definitely go again – especially for the wines)
