Our travels continued southbound. Brian and I picked up a couple of leads on potential new RVs in the Bakersfield area. Being so close to Yosemite and Sequoia, we figured it was the universe telling us we needed to stop for a while, explore the parks and check out the potential new RVs. Â We found a campground about half way between Yosemite and Sequoia and settled down for the week.
As much as it pains me to say it, with the smoke from the fires as bad as it was, we knew we didn’t want to spend a lot of time hiking around the parks. The air really started to hurt if we were out too long. But we weren’t about to be that close to these amazing places and not show the kids how beautiful they were. So, it was a day of small hikes and driving tours for us!
That being said, the kids still got to complete their Jr Ranger packets. They still got to walk the Big Trees Trail and see the the top 3 biggest trees in the world. Even with the smoke and haze, it was still beautiful and worth every second.
